About Us
The Newark Hull House is modeled after its predecessors in Chicago and other cities across the country. Our local adaptation of this tradition is to be a stronghold of aid, co-creation, critical thought, and collaborative action. As long as Denison University students reside within its walls, the Newark Hull House will serve as a meeting space, a hub for service, an office for organizing, and a place of learning for those who strive to leave Licking County more informed, more equitable, and more prosperous than they found it.
Its student residents are charged with the task of sustaining each of these commitments, as well as offering their partnership to fellow residents and locals alike. Students will exchange these efforts for the privilege of knowing Newark, Ohio as home, and knowing its citizens as neighbors.

We believe in active citizenship for systemic change.
Our Mission
Our mission is to give Denison students with a passion for active citizenship and systemic change the chance to call Newark home, to collaborate with citizens as neighbors, and to further a reciprocal relationship between their university and the Newark community.

Our Vision
The Hull House is a living and learning space available to Denisonians interested in social justice, community building, and activism, extending new opportunities for civic engagement to students and faculty alike. The Hull House simultaneously looks to improve the local infrastructure for community organizing, filling needs identified by active and well-established community partners.
